CHOICES: More than Chance

Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.... As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  (Joshua 24:15 NKJV)

The choices  most of us have to make in live aren't at all simple.  Many of us weigh our options carefully.  We make lists of pros and cons, we try to anticipate the outcome, then choose accordingly.  This is a good beginning.  But for those really difficult decisions, it may not be enough.

I was recently faced with what I feel was a tough decision in.  I was presented with an opportunity to be a part of an awesome ministry.  After several weeks (seems like months) of contemplating on my decision, there was two important questions that I needed to ask myself:  (1)  Will my choice keep me in the center of God's will? and (2) How will my decision affect my life and the lives of others?

I believe alot of the challenges that I was overwhelmed with was trying to rely on my flesh and allowing doubts and intimidation to consume me.  There was one thing that someone told me that stuck with me... "God will not place you in a position that you will be comfortable in".  The thought of having to do things and be presented with situations that I was not comfortable with... was not what I wanted to do.

Yes, life is filled with decisions - and they seem to just keep coming.  Discipline yourself not to act rashly.  Take time to give careful consideration to your choices - especially those that will have a lasting effect on your life.  Write our the pros and cons.  But then do more.  Ask yourself those difficult questions and then search out the answers through prayer.

Free will is an awesome gift.  It would have been easy enough for God to make my decision and choice for me.  But He has placed confidence in me, believing that knowing His will and purpose, I will choice to stay on the path He has set before me.
